“Rich Nero flew to Las Vegas to gamble instead of serving Ohio.”

TRUTH:

The Akron Beacon Journal’s October 10th editorial also confirms Rich Nero took “admirable steps” to serve our state by flying over 8,000 miles from an Oracle corporation conference where he was presenting.

FALSE:

“Rich Nero does not believe health insurance companies should provide coverage for autism and diabetes.”

TRUTH

Rich Nero’s response to the OhioBusinessVotes.com website states that he does believe employers should carry additional coverage for diseases that insurance companies don’t cover.  Rich Nero believes that health insurance companies shouldn’t have the option to not cover these and other illnesses.  He expects that Ohio’s legislature serve as “gate keepers” to the state’s residents and define expectations for full coverage.  Read more here: (http://www.ohiobusinessvotes.org/GetTheFacts.asp#Nero)

FALSE:

“Rich Nero wants to make tax breaks for the wealthiest.”

TRUTH:

Rich Nero is promoting the termination of Ohio’s failed estate tax that has been proven to be devastating on anyone’s estate who is worth $333,000 or more.  This includes farming families who have lost their land and small business families who have lost their companies. In turn, the state of Ohio has lost thousands of residents who have fled this tax.

Here is what the Ohio Chamber of Commerce had to say regarding the disruptive and untruthful mailers sent by my opponent and special interest groups.

Dear Ohio Chamber Member,

Recently, voters in the 42nd House district – the district in which your company is located – have received a series of misleading campaign mailings.  The mailings, paid for by the Campaign for the Moderate Majority, misrepresent the positions of Rep. Richard Nero on health care mandates. The Campaign for the Moderate Majority is a group established and funded by two labor unions, SEIU District 1199 and the Ohio Education Association.

Cited as the basis for the misleading attacks is the response Rep. Nero provided to a question asked on the Ohio Chamber’s candidate questionnaire.  Given this, I thought you should be aware of this attempt to distort his position and deceive voters.

Regrettably, the mailings sent in the 42nd House district aren’t the only ones this election year to attempt to trick voters using mischaracterizations or distortions of the responses candidates have given on our questionnaire.  That’s why we’ve had to create a new website that gives both Chamber members and other voters somewhere to go to learn the facts.  I invite you to visit this site if you want to see what Rep. Nero really said about health care.

I also encourage you to tell your business associates, friends, neighbors and other voters how the campaign mailings they recently received intentionally twist Rep. Nero’s position.  Finally, don’t forget to vote on or before November 4th.  Thank you.

Sincerely,
